Fourgig East – O gauge – Ian Mellors

Fourgig East makes it’s Seventh appearance at the show after a rest last year so that Summat Colliery could exhibit at our 10th Anniversary. Regular visitors will have seen it grow from a small demonstration track to the layout it is today. Based loosely on Ian Morton’s OO Shake the Box layout it is my first foray into O gauge modelling.

Featuring all hand built track (mostly at the 2012 show) and Scalescenes structures it demonstrates that O gauge need not be expensive – the ply used for the baseboards was reclaimed from packing crates due to be discarded where I work!

My Hymek diesel locomotive built from a Triang “Big Big” toy loco, much modified and featuring DCC sound has been further improved with the addition of working head and tail lights and an extra motor added for better traction.
