St Giles

Dave Harrison – OO – 1970 to 1986 Blue Diesel.

St. Giles is a fictitious Western Region layout set in the RAIL BLUE era bordering the West Country moors depicting a through station with repair facilities and a small goods yard allowing China Clay trains, Yeoman Stone traffic, aluminium scrap, livestock, MGR, milk, general goods and passenger stock to pass through.

Scenery is constructed of polystyrene blocks covered with plaster bandage and various scatter materials. Trees are made from a real plant called ‘Yarrow’, which grows wild and turns woody in Sep/Oct making it ideal for use. The buildings are all from the Ratio, Wills, Peco and Metcalfe ranges. The Town Brewery is the latest addition to the layout.

Control is Gaugemaster DCC and you will hear sound locos filing past, so listen out for 08’s – 17’s – 24’s – 25’s – 26’s – 31’s – 33’s – 37’s – 47’s – 50’s – 56’s – 108 DMU’s and Western 52’s – 42’s – 35’s, and that annoying class 20 whistler.

All stock is commercially available from Hornby, Bachmann or Heljan, it has been weathered and detailed to eliminate that ‘Straight out of the box’ look.

Please don’t hesitate to discuss anything with the operators – they don’t bite, well, maybe just one does.
